In the annals of high school football, there are few stories as incredible as that of Mark Cooley and his Frozen Football team. In 1981, Cooley led his team from the tiny town of Eveleth, Minnesota, to victory in the coldest game in history.
The game was played on December 12th, 1981, at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The temperature at kickoff was -27 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind chill of -55 degrees. The conditions were so extreme that the field had to be covered in a tarp the night before to prevent it from freezing solid.
Despite the dangerous conditions, Cooley and his team took the field determined to win. They played with heart and determination, and in the end, they emerged victorious with a score of 20-14.
Cooley's story is an inspiration to anyone who has ever faced adversity. It shows that anything is possible if you have the courage to never give up.
